Younger & Wiser
FORTUNE had a strongly differentiated product in the eyes of its loyals readers. But those less familiar with FORTUNE-its occasional readers and the largely non-FORTUNE reading advertising trade-thought FORTUNE was just another generic business book. Our challenge was to create a motivating, differentiating position for the FORTUNE brand that would infect the ad trade and occasional readers with the energy Fortune's loyalists had for the brand. Ultimately, this "handle" needed to fuel aggressive growth in ad sales, newstand sales, and total leadership.

Dixie Carter Serial
This campaign was designed to introduce a new brand name, the BellSouth Yellow Pages, and communicate the new brand positioning as "the most proven and dependable source of local buying information" in the South. The campaign features Dixie Carter, of Designing Women fame, and a native of Tennessee, who demonstrates how "one strong-willed woman" can find all the contractors and information she needs to renovate her river retreat, with only the help of the BellSouth Yellow Pages. The campaign exceeded all of the marketing objectives set for it, including branding, positioning, awareness, usage and revenue.
