RECONCILIATION

“Wołyń”, portraying a painful history of Polish-Ukrainian relations during the Second World War, faced the challenge of taming a difficult subject. The massacre in Volhynia is a politically entangled topic, not suitable for most of the cinema goers. The task of the campaign was to convince potential viewers that the film would result in reconciliation, rather than shock with violence. The film required balanced promotional activities and a empathic narrative that would still help us to achieve ambitious sales target. Thanks to well-thought-out communication, the target was exceeded, “Wołyń” noted the best opening results among Polish historical films this decade.
