Fitzgerald & Company designed a television spot and newspaper ad to culminate a campaign to win voter approval of a nearly $150 million bond referendum in Atlanta. No bond issue had passed in Atlanta in more than 25 years -- but with the impact of the Fitzgerald efforts, Atlantans voted approval by a 3-to-1 margin.

The Hawks suffered its third year of declining ticket sales at the same time as the NBA was experiencing double-digit sales increases in attendance and television revenue. Publicity was consistently negative. The advertising promise was an untruth. The Hawks sought to regain the hearts of Atlantans and reverse the sobering three-year trend of declining ticket sales.
