Sssartplay was a six-month sales promotions for the Michigan Lotto game, which provided lottery players with a free $1 Michigan Lotto ticker with each $5 purchase for a single lotto drawing. The promotion was designed to reverse a downward sales trend and spark Lotto sales by offering extra value to players for a limited time. Lottery marketers sought to increase sales by increasing the frequency of play and wager amount all jackpot levels, by turning $1, $2, $3, and $4 players into $5 players and by motivating infrequent players to play more regularly. Increasing Lotto sales would have the benefit of growing larger jackpots faster, triggering entry by occasional players who don't play Lotto until the jackpot reaches a certain amount.
