New Mover Welcoming Program
This program is an integrated direct mail campaign that introduces UC Davis Medial Group and its physicians to people who recently moved into the service area. It includes an initial welcoming packet, household visits by welcoming representatives, outbound telemarketing and customized follow-up mailings. The main objective is to encourage new movers to select a UC Davis Medical Group doctor as their primary care physician. The creative strategy employs a soft sell, public service approach aimed at providing information and building relationships.

Consumers feel that managed care is restricting their access to specialist physicians. They want more control and authority in making key decisions regarding their own health. The advertising campaign for Access+ clearly communicates the empowerment being offered from Blue Shield in allowing customers to see a specialist without going through their Primary Care Physician. The campaign helped the Blue Shield HMO to grow 32% in Year 1, adding over 100,000 new members and becoming the fastest growing HMO in California.
