SUMMARY

With the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop in the summer of 2023, Pixel set out to celebrate the innovation, spirit and soul black artists had brought to the genre. That said, there was a glaring lack in representation in it’s rich history - the genre has historically been highly male-dominated. So we set out to put female artists in the spotlight. Our idea was to take iconic album art from the male-dominated decades of rap, and invite female artists to reimagine these album covers and remix the chart-topping singles.
