The complexity and lack of advancement in lupus over the last decade had left rheumatologists and patients feeling as though there may never be a treatment that provided relief. We needed to change the way rheumatologists looked at the science and their approach to treatment by driving awareness and understanding of IFN-1, a key driver of lupus. The “Unlocking Lupus” unbranded campaign broke through the category clutter by leveraging a symbol of lupus, the butterfly, and successfully grabbed rheumatologists’ attention to change both the narrative and behaviors around lupus treatment.
