SUMMARY
On June 21, 2021, Carl Nassib became the first-ever active NFL player to come out as gay. The NFL had an unprecedented opportunity to step up as a vocal ally for Carl and the LGBTQ+ community—it wasn’t just the right thing to do for people, it was the right thing to do for football. Days later, we dropped a single, radical and rousing statement of pride and inclusion that made our stance clear, got millions talking and made strides to overturn the unspoken codes of masculinity and homophobia in football.
