Thanks to the pandemic, busking was banned in Singapore for over a year, leaving 350+ street performers without their livelihood. As a national media network and champion of local creativity, Mediacorp wanted to give them a new avenue to earn sustainable income. Presenting Buskermercials: a platform that connects local buskers with world-famous brands to create promotional songs. Thus far, brands like Pizza Hut, Amazon, KFC, Singtel 5G, and more have adopted this new advertising format – helping buskers earn avg. $3,000/month (60% more than targeted) and reach 3.7 million listeners.
