Too many brands are “rainbow-washing”, slapping rainbows everywhere during Pride, without taking any real action. BMO understood that to improve the lives of many in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, tangible action was required. BMO created positive change by hijacking rainbows to benefit those who needed real support. The campaign called on the community, and their allies, to ‘deposit rainbows' on their phones. 50,000 rainbows were deposited, resulting in a $50,000 in donation to Rainbow Railroad, which enabled them to deliver five 2SLGBTQIA+ people from state-sponsored violence to safety.
