SUMMARY
Against a wave of nationalism and self-interest, global advocacy org ONE sought to educate people on the need for a global coordinated response to COVID-19. By May, people were growing exasperated with celebrity messages around COVID-19 and longed for factual information and legitimate ways forward. #PassTheMic convinced 42 celebrities with a combined audience of 779 million to turn over their social platforms to 43 global doctors/scientists/economists/leaders. The campaign created massive media attention (3 billion impressions) and public engagement (90 million social engagements); a critical tool for ONE’s political advocacy.
