Voya Financial launched in 2014 with three massive challenges: 1. it was new company in a category where fresh-faced entrants weren’t trusted, 2. it had significantly less media than major competitors and 3. consumers were more inclined to avoid thinking about retirement planning than engage in it. With a campaign that stripped away all the clutter around retirement planning to its bare bones – save a little now for later – it famously built a brand on a simpler way to think about retirement planning.
