Leveraging its status as the supermarket for all Chileans, Unimarc took over the national holidays through the country’s connections with “asaito,” traditional Chilean BBQ, which plays a key role in every national celebration. This year, they added a call for families and friends to reunite, which fit the post-pandemic context. They drove 43% more sales than in a normal year, surpassing the sales of 2019, and improved its brand connection with millennials.

Effie Awards Won: 2022 Gold Denmark Effie Awards in Small Budgets – Nonprofit and Social Good: Brands
A report from nonprofit organization Børns Vilkår report shows 75.000 children in Denmark miss school because of mental health issues. Addressing the problem, they placed 500 empty chairs in front of the Danish parliament. The Empty Chairs drove a cultural conversation—they hit the front pages of Politiken and Berlingske, were featured in national news, and politician Pia Olsen Dyhr rewrote her speech addressing the subject at the opening of the Danish Parliament. The story reached 2.7 million Danes within 24 hours and generated an estimated media value of +2.000.000 DKK – with zero media investment.

In South Africa, small and medium-sized businesses were the hardest hit sector during the pandemic. Insurance leader Hollard, to position themselves as committed to their brand purpose and demonstrate that shared value has a place in the marketing mix, shared their big ad space with small businesses. This increased Hollard’s brand awareness ranking from fourth to second place, and each business saw an increase in sales and exposure.

Morning After Island

Effie Awards Won: 2022 Gold LATAM Effie Awards in Impacto Positivo – Bien Social and Cuidado de la salud
Since 2009, Honduras has been the only country in Latin America where emergency contraceptive pills are prohibited. In support of repealing this law, GE-PAE created the “Morning After Island,” the only alternative for more than 3 million Honduran women whose rights have been violated. The organization documented the stories of girls who took the pill in international waters to spark debate. After impacting over 180 million people and collecting 2 million signatures, they obtained a commitment from the President of the Republic to address our cause.
